Artists of all abilities are being invited to take part in the Monaghan Plein Air Festival on Saturday, 8th August 2026, from 10:00am to 5:00pm, at Lough Muckno, Castleblayney A75 ND34.
Whether picking up a paintbrush for the first time or already an experienced artist, the festival offers a wonderful opportunity to spend the day creating outdoors in one of County Monaghan’s most scenic locations. Participants are encouraged to bring their preferred artistic medium, find inspiration in the stunning lakeside surroundings, and enjoy the unique experience of painting en plein air.
A highlight of this year’s festival is an optional workshop with acclaimed Irish artist Kieran Guckian, offering valuable insights, practical techniques, and creative inspiration for artists looking to develop their plein air practice.
Throughout the day, artists will have the opportunity to explore the scenic landscapes of Lough Muckno, develop their creative skills, and share their passion for art in a beautiful outdoor setting.
The Monaghan Plein Air Festival is funded by Creative Ireland through Monaghan County Council’s Creative Monaghan programme, supporting opportunities for people of all ages to engage with the arts and celebrate creativity across the county.
