Record Crowds in town for the 21st Muckno Mania Festival

Castleblayney played host to yet another hugely successful Muckno Mania Festival, which took place over 3 days last weekend.  Blessed with glorious sunshine throughout the hard working festival Committee who opted for a Circus Theme on their 21st Festival brought one of the biggest crowds ever witnessed to the town.

The festival’s link, impact and integration within the Community was clearly evident from the myriad of participation and involvement throughout the weekend from individuals, local organisations, local authority and local businesses, who clearly displayed an abundance of goodwill towards the festival and the organisers.

The added attraction of having one of Ireland’s oldest Circus troupes, Corvenieo in town for two days, also hugely added to the atmosphere and the festival spirit.

Highlights of the Festival included the guest appearance of the Dublin Ukulele Collective, who performed in front of a large audience on Friday night and who added energy and colour to the Street Carnival.  The Trialstar Motorbike Stunt Show was also a big hit with the crowds.  Friday night’s lakeside activities the Fire Display by Inferno and the amazing fireworks show were also much talked about.  The Sprint Triathlon, the many ‘aged friendly’ events and the Circus Raft Contraption competition were also very much commented on.  Doohamlet’s Niamh Malone was crowned Festival Queen 2019 and this was followed by the quirky and highly entertaining Bingo Mania.  Other highlights were the Faugh’s Sports Day, the Fairy trail in the forest and the competition for Monaghan’s fittest.
