21st Muckno Mania Festival to draw huge Crowds

The Muckno Mania Festival kicks off this weekend with an action packed programme of events over the three days.  Organisers are hoping for good weather which will greatly add to the numbers attending the various events.

The Muckno Mania Festival is now in its 21st year, and was the brain child of Castleblayney Community Enterprise when they commenced it as a one day event in August 1999. The festival which has grown hugely since that continues to be staged as a family festival promoting sport and music with a particular focus on the arts over three days. Support for the art programme comes mostly from Monaghan County Council and the Carrickmacross Castleblayney Municipal District. Further support this year has come from Board Failte through a local authority programme and also from Monaghan Sports Partnership.  This is matched by the generosity of a large number of local businesses who contribute to the programme of events and cover the running costs of staging the Festival.

This year’s Festival will promote a Circus theme and many of the activities and events will reflect that theme throughout the weekend.  The big attraction over the weekend is the arrival of the Country’s oldest name in Circus, Cornvenieo, Cirque De Lumiére who will present live performances over two days featuring aerial arts, acrobatics, aerial stunts, fire stunts and magical feats. The Circus will be located at Lough Muckno with two shows Saturday 12 noon and Saturday 5pm and also on Sunday 12 noon and 4.30pm.
