Introduction to Biodiversity Training

Monaghan Integrated Development will run an Introduction to Biodiversity training course starting on Wednesday 8th May in Castleblayney Community Enterprise Centre from 7pm to 9pm.

This training is provided free of charge and is aimed at community groups (including tidy towns groups, allotment groups) and the general population who have an interest in Biodiversity and how they can apply learning from biodiversity in their local area.

The course will be delivered 1 session per week over 8 weeks - 6 practical sessions  in the Enterprise Centre, Castleblayney and 2 fieldtrips – locations of the field trips to be confirmed.

The training programme will include the following elements:

  • Brief introduction to Ecology/Biology as an introduction to Biodiversity.
  • Local plants
  • Local wildlife
  • Invasive Species
  • Good practice for biodiversity:
  • Developing sites and amenities for wellbeing
  • Development of biodiversity Plan
  • Field Trips to a biodiversity site

Course dates: Wednesday 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th May and 5th, 12th June (7pm-9pm)
Field Trip: Saturday 11th and 25th May (10.30am)
