It was with deep sadness that the community learned of the passing Fr Pat McHugh, former Parish Priest of Muckno, Castleblayney, on Wednesday the 27th of April at The Mater Hospital, Dublin, after a long illness. Fr Pat McHugh was appointed Parish Priest of Castleblayney in 2010 and officiated here until his retirement due to illness in September 2018. Fr Pat, as he was popularly known, was devoted to his work and faithfully served in the different parishes and educational settings in which he ministered. He also was a devoted GAA member. He played for his home club in Ederney, later, coached teams in St Macartan’s College, Monaghan and in the parishes he ministered in. Fr Pat was originally from Killynoogan, Kesh, in the Parish of Ederney, close to the Fermanagh / Donegal border. The funeral Mass will take place in St. Mary’s church, Pettigo on Saturday at 12 noon followed by interment in Saint Joseph’s Church Cemetry, Lettercran, Co Donegal.
