Toddler Therese Hickey, from Castleblayney, got to meet all the first responders on Saturday last who saved her life last August. The two-year-old girl was found unresponsive in a pond at the family home, but thanks to CPR immediately carried out by her mother and later by Paramedics, survived and made a full recovery. The Hickey family, as part of Restart a Heart Day, got the opportunity last weekend to meet again the fire crews, paramedics, call operators and the air ambulance crews to celebrate the successful outcome which has been hailed as a miracle. The weekend event was widely covered on national media. Dr Cathy Gibbons Paediatric Consultant at Temple Street Children’s Hospital said Therese was a patient who will be always remembered.
