Mindszenty started work on Mindszenty Park in the 1970s armed with a spade and wheelbarrow to create a football pitch and park out of a piece of derelict waste ground behind his house. He organises football tournaments funded by his winnings from pub quizzes.

In recent years, Mindszenty Park featured in tv show ‘Dirty Old Towns’ which showed volunteers turn out to transform the area. Mindszenty keeps the park looking fabulous with plants and flowers.
