Oram GFC is set to host Big Tom Weekend 2026, a very special weekend celebrating the 90th birthday of legendary Irish country music star Big Tom.
From Friday 18th to Sunday 20th September, Oram will come alive with music, dancing, sport, entertainment and memories, bringing the community together to celebrate the life and lasting legacy of one of Irish country music’s most loved performers.
The weekend begins on Friday evening with the Culture Night event “Memories That Never Die” at 7pm, followed at 8pm by the first-ever Big Tom Jiving Competition, featuring music from Big Dan the Highway Man and Damian Davis.
On Saturday, the Big Tom U-14 Tournament will bring the sporting action to Oram before the celebrations continue that night with The Travellers, returning to Oram to celebrate 15 years on the road with Big Tom. They will be joined by special guests John Glenn, Margo, Damian Davis, Shunie Crampsey and Big Dan the Highway Man for what promises to be a memorable night of live country music.
The weekend will come to a close on Sunday with the Big Tom 5K Run/Walk, Memorial Vintage Run and Bingo, followed by a very special performance of “Big Tom’s Music Lives On” by local primary school children.
With something for everyone, Big Tom Weekend 2026 promises to be a wonderful celebration of 90 years of Big Tom — his music, his memories and the special place he holds in the hearts of so many.
