Castleblayney College recently hosted an event entitled, ‘Artnonymous’ in memory of the late Ashling Mooney and Frank Mohan, RIP. The school raised over €12,000 for two charities chosen by the families: Castleblayney Cancer Society and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Special Care Unit. These charities provided incredible support to the families whose children attend the school.
A presentation of money raised was made by members of both the Mooney and Mohan families on Wednesday 11th May, to both charities. Genevieve McEneaney, Treasurer and Moya Lynch, Chairperson of Castleblayney Cancer Society were in attendance. France King, Deputy Principal relayed a message from Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital expressing how grateful they are for the effort made by all involved. Dr McVeigh expressed a thank you to all the staff and students involved in organising the event, commenting on how creative the fundraising idea was.
The event called upon artists to donate artwork which was then raffled to anyone who made a financial donation to the Artnonymous online fundraiser. The Artnonymous Team wish to thank all of the artists who kindly donated work; over 150 artworks were received in all manner of medias from painting to poetry. This generosity was the foundation of the event.
The support and generosity shown by local businesses was phenomenal, not only through financial donations which were gratefully received but many businesses showcased the artwork in their shop windows and helped to promote the event on social media. The Artnonymous Team are immensely grateful for this support in making the event so successful.
Thank you also to all those who donated. A list of winners can be found on the school Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages. There are small number of artworks still to be collected, please contact info@cblayneycollege.com if you are a winner and wish to arrange a time.
