Castleblayney to get funding for further enhancement of Market Square

It was confirmed during the week that Castleblayney town is to receive €100,000 funding under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme which will be used towards further improvement of the public area of the Market Square.

The work around the Big Tom statue and the area around Market Square will include public lighting, seating and landscaping, re-organisation of traffic layout and introduction of quality paving materials.

The area of the Market Square is being showcased at the Venice Architecture Biennale exhibition titled ‘Free Market’ which started in May and will run until November. The exhibition is showcasing drone photos, videos, historic images, drawings and a large-scale model of Castleblayney, highlighting the historic town centre and the market house and shows the potential for the future of the town centre.
