Parade like no Other

The Muckno Mania Festival will stage a major festival parade on Friday 6th July. Large crowds are expected to descend upon the town attracting flocks from both sides of the border.

The Parade will commence at 7pm from Laurel Hill and will make its way on to Main Street, finishing its route at the Market House and will be one of the most colourful parade seen in the town for many years, featuring Large Puppets, African Drumming, Samba Drumming, Kerala Beats, Fr Ted & Fr Jack, Pipe Bands, Marching Floats, Stilt Walkers, Miscellaneous Bands and much more.

Also the only mechanically working Shamrock Car left in Ireland will be back for this year’s Festival Parade. The unique car, which was only one of eight cars ever fully finished at the `Shamrock ` car manufacturing plant at Lake View, Castleblayney in the 1960’s, is owned by Drogheda man Mr. Paddy Byrne.

Paddy who has become a good friend of Festival chairman Tommy McGuire has agreed to take the car to the town to form part of the Festivals parade on Friday night providing a wonderful opportunity for townsfolk to see this forgotten motor an important part of the town’s history.
