Blayney Blades Win National Star Award

The local women’s group Blayney Blades received an Aontas Star Award for their initiative “Moving On Sport and Recreation Programme”. The awards ceremony took place on Monday 5th March in the Royal College of Physicians in Dublin.

The Star Awards are an initiative organised by the National adult learning organisation, Aontas, to recognise and celebrate the work undertaken by adult learning programs throughout Ireland.

The Moving On Programme has been running for 20 years now and is the only Sports focused Local Training Initiative of its kind in the Cavan Monaghan area. With a progression rate of over 90% this programme is proof that not only do adult learning initiatives work but they are also an extremely important addition to any community. This great achievement highlights the amazing hard work that is put in to the programme by all the staff involved.
