McMahon's SuperValu Castleblayney 5km medal unveiled

Castleblayney 5km road race will take place on 26th November starting at 2pm near the Glencarn Hotel. The kids are always hosted in a special 2km run at 1pm. All participants will be rewarded with a special commissioned medal.

This year, the medal will feature the gates to Lough Muckno Park, home of the Hope Castle, Lough Muckno and many other local landmarks. The picture used for the medal design dates back to the early 1900’s.

Registration is available online at www.castleblayneyfaughs.com or www.Runireland.com. Preregistration cost only €10.

There will also be registration on the day in the Glencarn Shopping Centre, costing €15 and U14’s €5.

Registration forms are also available at McMahon’s SuperValu.

The entry fee covers finisher’s medal, chip timing, category prizes and a nice cup of tea/coffee and a treat afterwards in the Glencarn Hotel where we are delighted to host this year’s special guest, Eve McCrystal, Irish ParaOlympian gold medal winner.

The organiser’s plans to reveal a new medal each year to mark a famous local landmark or event from the town, in what will hopefully build up into an impressive collection over time that will help spread the word about Castleblayney to our many visitors who visit for the race. This year’s race registrations are way ahead of previous years with many counties represented including Westmeath, Dublin, Tyrone as well as all the neighbouring counties.
