Irish Bog Snorkelling Championship in Castleblayney

It’s that time of year again, yes it’s time for the Irish Bog Snorkelling Championships!!

This year’s event again takes place at Alice’s Loft and Cottages Self Catering in Doohamlet, Castleblayney, County Monaghan on Saturday 9th September starting at 2pm and full time whistle approx. 6pm.

The Championship will be co-hosted with The Blayney Academy Soccer Club who are planning a fun family day out with Obstacle Courses, face painting, BBQ, 40Ft Mud Slide and much more. Not forgetting the chance to be crowned the fastest Bog Snorkeler 2017.

Bog snorkelling is a sporting event that consists of competitors completing two consecutive lengths of a water filled trench cut through a peat bog, in the shortest time possible. Competitors wear snorkels and flippers and complete the course without using conventional swimming strokes, relying on flipper power alone.

This event is open to anyone brave enough to experience something different.
