Lisnagrieve Pipe Band Take Up Invitation to Perform in South of France

A group of local musicians travelled to Marseillan in the South East France for Easter to take part in a number of special Easter events planned there.

The musicians who comprise of members of the St. Macartan’s Pipe Band, Lisnagrieve, were invited to perform in the popular Mediterranean seaside town by the Mayor of Marseillan Yves Michele.  The travelling party also included a number of members from the Aughnamullen Pipe Band, who also performed out there.

The town of Marseillan, which is twinned with the town of Castleblayney since 2010, hosted the Band members in their accommodation facility at their seaside resort.  The Band were asked to officiate at a number of events, including the Official Opening of a Photographic Exhibition in the town and also to participate in the town’s Easter Parade through the streets.  The Band also performed during an Easter Church Service.

Also acknowledged was the support and role of the Mayor of the Castleblayney/ Carrickmacross Municipal Area Aidan Campbell, who was working behind the scenes along with the Manager of Castleblayney Enterprise Centre, Tommy McGuire in the planning of this event.

Mayor Campbell also, in his personal capacity, travelled to Marseillan separately to attend the events planned out there.
