Have a fun night out as Castleblayney Players return with Thy Will Be Done in Iontas Theatre Thursday 2nd & Friday 3rd February at 8pm.
The play had a successful three nights in Iontas last November and the cast (Francis Gerard Duffy, Mary Brennan, Roraidh Irwin & Nicky Hore) have been back at rehearsals to get back on the road again. Director, Jim O’Neill, has been fine-tuning each scene to have top-notch performances ready for the next shows.
The writer is Michael Carey from Galway. He has set this play in 1998 in rural Ireland and the character types will be well known to many people in the audience. Jack has been living alone in a converted cowshed for 40 years. Across the yard lives his brother Peteen and neither speak to one another on account of a dispute years previously. Martin, whose mother was married to Peteen before leaving home with the baby, has returned to meet his father. In the middle of this, Bridie, the home-help, keeps a close eye on all the family happenings and has her own plans for herself.
Into this mix of feuding brothers, a long-lost son, too much whiskey and a bit of religion Michael Carey has written a sharp, witty script with scenes full of comedy and drama that has been a success all over Ireland as well as touring in America.
Iontas Theatre is offering a discount on tickets to the end of January.
