Castleblayney Players – The Salvage Shop

Castleblayney Players are ready to go on tour with their production of The Salvage Shop by Jim Nolan.

The play will open in Iontas Theatre for local audiences and will be performed for 3 nights: Thursday 11th, Friday 12th & Saturday 13th February at 8.30pm.

Aidan Mc Quillan, who has directed and appeared in many of the group’s productions, is this year’s Director. The cast consists of other well known faces Francis Gerard Duffy, Roraidh Irwin, Pauline Clarke, Nicky Hore, Jim O’Neill and, newcomer to the group, Sabrina Beggan. In addition there is the backstage crew, without whom no play can get to the stage, Paul O’Neill, Carmel Allen, Emma Duffy, Eoin Ward, Mickey Carroll & Ronan Duffy.

The writer, Jim Nolan, is from Co.Waterford and has written a powerful story about a family in a small Irish town where the local Brass Band is central to the community and to the family. Tension builds among the family members and close friends as old family arguments boil up from the past. Jim Nolan portrays a family, and community, full of rivalries, politics but also love. Central to the play is the beautiful music of Verdi, Strauss, Bellini, Donezetti and the voice of Luchiano Pavorotti.

Following the performances in Iontas the group will be going on tour, to include the Festival Circuit, in a number of venues in Counties Monaghan, Cavan, Tyrone, Leitrim and Donegal.
