Castleblayney Players – “Bad Blood” & “Stay Carl Stay”

castleblayney players posCastleblayney Players are back again with a new production in Iontas Theatre next Sunday 18th, Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th at 8.30pm.

This time the group is performing two one-act plays each night with a separate cast and director for each play.  First on stage will be “Bad Blood”, directed by Pauline Clarke.  It is written by Alan Donnelly from Carrickmacross who has had success over the years with plays and films which he has written and directed.  The cast includes Roraidh Irwin, Shane Cumiskey, Niall Gilmartin, Niamh Mc Mahon & Jason Soraghan.  The play is set after the Northern Ireland Peace Agreement, but tensions are still high when old enemies seek revenge.

What happens to change the play’s characters is so strange that audiences can only laugh. But will old hatreds change?  After the interval there will be a completely different style of comedy. “Stay Carl Stay”, directed by Jim O’Neill, is written by American Peter Tolan who has had many years success as a TV comedy writer.  The cast includes Siobhan Lysaght, Brendan Gormley, Mary Brennan, Emma Duffy, Enda Tourish and Peter Coyle.  The story centres around a woman who is in a relationship that is not going well. She sees a psychiatrist who advises her to get a dog. As Carl, the dog, settles in there is much laughter as audiences wonder who will be the leader of the pack.  Backstage and working on the set and technicals will be Francis G.Duffy, Paul O’Neill, Aidan Mc Quillan, Carl Mc Ginn, Eoin Ward, Nicky Hore, Carmel Allen.
